UTV Accident Sends Two to the Hospital

On June 9, 2012 at 7:06 PM, E516 received an alarm for a motor vehicle accident involving a UTV (side by side) four miles south of mile marker 79 (Silver Springs Rd) on Interstate 40. Upon the arrival of the engine, two patient were found near the vehicle, self extricated, both with head trauma. Guardian Angel 6 was activated, and crew began patient care on both patients, one of which was a level 1 trauma. Angel 6 transported one by air to Las Vegas in stable but serious condition and the second transported by ground to an area hospital in stable condition. The cause of the accident is unknown and under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts but did not have helmets on.
